Questions riders ask

Booking and dates

Can I ride sooner than the dates shown?

Day rides run one week a month, Monday to Friday, with one ride a day across both locations. The other weeks the horses rest or are out on multi day rides. Every ride page shows the next dates, and if none work you can join the list to hear the moment a spot opens or new dates are released.

I am riding solo. Can I still book?

Rides need two riders to run. Join the solo rider list on any ride page and we will email you when a booking has room for one more.

How far ahead can I book?

The earliest a ride can be booked is 3 days before it runs. Beach dates in late December to February and over Easter fill months ahead, so book early for those.

Can we have a private ride?

Yes. Private rides are by request for couples and small groups. Send the date, group size and level through the private rides page and we reply with the price guide.

Do you run multi day rides?

Yes. Multi day rides are run with Globetrotting and booked through them, not here.

Riding and suitability

Do I need riding experience?

No. The Harveydale 1.5 and 2 hour rides suit all levels and ages 5 and up. Laura matches every rider to a horse that fits their ability. If you are not sure, take the 2 minute Ride Ready check.

Is there a weight limit?

Every horse has its own weight limit to protect its back, so the limit depends on which horse suits you. [Laura's explanation and the range across the herd.] Tell us your weight honestly when you book and we will match you to the right horse.

How old do children need to be?

Harveydale rides take ages 5 and up. The Beach Ride takes ages 10 and up.

How do you choose my horse?

Laura matches each rider to a horse by ability and weight, with a backup horse planned for every booking. Tell us honestly how much you have ridden and we take it from there.

On the day

What if the weather turns?

[Weather policy]

What time does the Beach Ride start?

The Beach Ride start time is set by the tide, so it changes with each date. Your exact start time is in your confirmation email and again in the reminder before your ride.

Gift cards

How do gift cards work?

Buy a gift card online for any amount or a Harveydale ride. It is emailed to you or the recipient on the day you choose, with no price shown. The recipient books online with the code. Gift cards are valid for at least 3 years.
